Charm Cake
Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 04:00PM I love a good tradition, especially one that involves cake. If you have never seen this, it's called a charm cake. Back in the Victorian days, charms of good luck were placed into the wedding cake for good fortune. Now you often see the tradition taking place at bridesmaid luncheons, especially in the South. The charms are tied to ribbons and placed into the bottom of the cake. Each bridesmaid takes turns pulling a ribbon out to find their special charm.
My friend Laura is not only a southern belle, but she also loves old and new traditions alike. It was no surprise that she had a lovely charm cake at her bridesmaid luncheon.

My sister in law Alissa also had a charm cake at her bridesmaid luncheon. They had a different twist to the tradition- only the single ladies took a charm. My favorite charm from that cake was the golf clubs = a country club life.
